Every project begins by listening to the material and the stories it holds. The Medley collection takes shape from research conducted in the artisanal districts of Delhi and Moradabad, India, where metalworking continues to be passed down through gestures, techniques and skills preserved by small-scale manufacturers. Design curator Concetta Giannangeli observes and interprets this heritage of knowledge through a contemporary lens, giving life to a collection of ready-made pieces.

The project emerges from a dialogue between material, technique and know-how, allowing the process itself to suggest the identity of each object. The subtle irregularities of handcraftsmanship are not concealed, but embraced as an integral part of the design, lending authenticity and uniqueness to every piece. A collection that interprets manufacturing tradition through a contemporary design sensibility, expressing one of Gervasoni’s founding values: the continuous dialogue between research, craftsmanship and design.

The Medley 42 and 48 side tables reinterpret the essential form of traditional pedestal stands, translating their proportions and language into a new scale. Made of cast aluminium with an acid-etched finish, they express a sculptural presence in which the material surface takes centre stage. The vibrant, irregular texture preserves the traces of handcraftsmanship, transforming the top into an expressive element that conveys the depth of the material and the value of the artisan’s gesture.

Crafted from a single block of hand-worked aluminium, Medley 40 explores metal in its most essential and sculptural dimension. The composition of its volumes emerges directly from the material, while the polished surface reflects light and its surroundings, enhancing the purity of the form. Metal thus becomes a living surface, interacting with the space through reflections and continuous perceptual variations.

The Medley 95 and 96 pendant lamps reinterpret an ancient weaving technique traditionally used for bamboo, translating it into a mesh of galvanised steel wire. The craftsmanship naturally defines the form, creating a light, transparent conical structure in which construction and aesthetics become one. As light passes through the weave, it enhances its depth.
