Weaving is one of the distinctive traits of Gervasoni, founded in 1882 under the name “Premiata Società Friulana per l’Industria del Vimini”, originally specialized in the artisanal production of wicker baskets.
Since then, Gervasoni has become renowned for its material experimentation: a keen attention to detail and a constant drive to push traditional boundaries have led the company to design and develop custom-made materials for many of its collections.
This is the case, for example, with extruded polyethylene ribbon and double-twisted polyethylene rope, woven into ever-changing patterns. The tradition of weaving is reinterpreted in a contemporary key, even for outdoor settings, through the use of next-generation synthetic fibers engineered to withstand weather conditions while preserving their technical and chromatic properties over time.
This approach has led to the creation of materials such as Colette Resin, developed for the eponymous chair collection by Marta Giardini, and Panda and Straw Resins, which give life to the respective collections designed by Paola Navone.
COLETTE
Design Marta Giardini
The Colette chair collection is inspired by the informal elegance of Parisian bistro seating. With its distinctive design, the five models created by Marta Giardini bring the relaxed charm of traditional French terrasses to outdoor settings.
Colette stands out for its variety of shapes which, while maintaining familiar lines, offer unique interpretations through refined silhouettes and distinctive weave patterns. Carefully curated colours and design details make these chairs extremely versatile, perfect for those looking to combine elegance and functionality with a touch of French charm.
The weave of the Colette collection features a distinctive pattern created using expertly crafted extruded ribbon, known as Colette Resin, made of polyethylene. Specially designed for outdoor use, this resin is a fiber composed of high-quality polyethylene and eco-friendly inorganic colorants.
With its natural look, strength, flexibility, and durability, Colette Resin meets the highest standards for resistance to sunlight, humidity, and water.
PANDA
Design Paola Navone
Paola Navone signs the Panda outdoor collection, where Gervasoni’s iconic weaving is reinterpreted in soft, generous forms.
Comprised of a sofa, armchairs, and coffee tables, Panda reimagines the concept of weaving in an oversized key, with exaggerated proportions that evoke an exotic sense of comfort, perfect for outdoor living.
The weave is crafted from an extruded polyethylene ribbon known as Panda Resin, a fiber with a natural appearance, strength, and flexibility. This special resin is weather-resistant and compliant with the international REACH regulation governing the safe management of chemical substances. Fully recyclable, this fiber combines aesthetics, durability, and sustainability.
STRAW
Design Paola Navone
Simple yet refined, the seats of the Straw collection are defined by their slender, lightweight aluminum frame wrapped in a rope weave.
A perfect blend of eclectic, sophisticated design and the practicality of durable, easy-to-handle seating. Designed by Paola Navone for outdoor spaces, the Straw family, available with or without armrests, is a true expression of artisanal savoir-faire, ideal for both residential and contract settings.
The weave of the collection is made with a double-twisted polyethylene rope (Straw Resin), a fiber with a natural look, offering strength, flexibility, and durability. Specifically engineered for outdoor use, it meets the highest standards of resistance to UV rays, humidity, and water. This material creates an eye-catching square-patterned texture that serves as both a comfortable seat and backrest.
